See Bristol on your Bike

With so much to see and do when you Visit Bristol, what better way to see the city named Green Capital of Europe than by bike? From breathtaking views to historic buildings to architecture and Instagrammable locations.

Ashton Court

The magnificent Ashton Court Estate to tackle the famous mountain biking trails that circle the gorgeous stately home. It was one of the first places in the country to get an official MTB trail back in 2002, and in 2011 the path received a full overhaul, which is more weather resistant.

The course is aimed at riders of all abilities. There is an optional red descent in the middle of the trail, featuring a jumpy beginning and a rock-strewn lower section. There are also a few optional lines dotted around the path, to keep things fresh even after repeated visits.

From Future Inn Bristol it is a 20-minute cycle ride to the Ashton Court Estate.

Harbourside

For a more relaxing cycle begin from Queen Square. Take a leisurely ride around the harbour and Millennium Square which is built on the site of the former dockside warehouses. Cross the original dock gates and pass the magnificent Brunel's SS Great Britain, where it has rested since returning home in 1970. Along the waterside, you will also find the M Shed Museum.

From Future Inn Bristol it is a 7-minute cycle ride to Queen Square.

River Avon

From Queen Square, head down the harbourside towards the mouth of the River Avon; this route takes in the beautiful scenery and some of Bristol’s most famous landmarks. The Clifton Rocks Railway is visible before cycling underneath the Brunel’s famous Clifton Suspension Bridge and through the Avon Gorge, which is teeming with wildlife to look at along the way. Continuing along the route, you will eventually reach Avonmouth, where you can cross back across the river and cycle back.

From Future Inn Bristol it is a 7-minute cycle ride to Queen Square.

Bristol-Bath Railway Path

The Bristol-Bath Railway Path is possibly the most famous of Bristol's cycle routes. Still, for good reason – it is very flat and has beautiful scenery. There are many points of interest, including sculptures and an old train station and the route is packed with riverside pubs. The 13 miles are entirely traffic-free and almost entirely flat as it runs along a disused railway line.

From Future Inn Bristol, it is a 6-minute cycle ride to Trinity Street and St Phillips Road, which is considered the start of the route.

Oldbury Court Estate

The Oldbury Court Estate was first mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1066 when a riding man is shown as holding a carucate of land. With acres of woodland to explore and even panoramic landscape, you can also catch a glimpse of kingfishers, herons, foxes, owls, bats and even deer.

From Future Inn Bristol it is a 22-minute cycle ride to Oldbury Court Estate.

River Severn Loop

The River Severn Loop is one of the most impressive cycle routes in the country. The 24-mile trail will see you cycle along the River Severn and over the old Severn Bridge taking in the panoramic views. Complete the loop cycling through the rural villages of Olveston, Tockington, and Easter Compton. The mostly flat route is easy to navigate on A and B roads on either side of the River Severn.
