Find Out What's On!Twenty Years of Partnerships at Future Inns
On 13 April 2005 Future Inn Cardiff Opened
As we celebrate twenty years of Future Inns, we're raising a toast (and maybe a room service breakfast or two) to the incredible partnerships that have not only shaped our journey but also significantly impacted the local community. From international sporting events to world-class performances and everything in between, it's been two decades of community, collaboration, and Cardiff charm.
The past two decades have been an incredible journey, from the grand opening of Future Inns Cardiff Bay in 2005 to the city's transformation into a thriving cultural and sporting destination. We're proud to have played a significant role in this transformation, contributing to the vibrant cultural scene that Cardiff is known for today.
For 20 years, Future Inn Cardiff has been more than just a place to stay - we've been part of the city's story. From hosting international visitors to providing a home away from home for our guests, we're honoured to have played a role in Cardiff's incredible growth. Here are some interesting facts:
A Grand Jeté into the Arts Scene
In 2005, the prestigious Kirov Ballet graced Cardiff with their first-ever Welsh performance at the Wales Millennium Centre – and they made Future Inns their base during their stay, offering our guests a unique and unforgettable experience. Their performance of Don Quixote was nothing short of spellbinding. That landmark moment marked the beginning of a long-standing partnership with the WMC that has seen us host countless performers and VIPs over the years.
Our support of the Wales Millennium Centre continues to this day, and it's just one of many cultural institutions we're proud to work with. Our long-standing partnerships with these institutions are a testament to our unwavering commitment to the arts. Did you know that theatre ticket holders get 20% off on their bedrooms?
As part of our 10th birthday celebrations, Future Inns had a cake made into a replica of the Wales Millennium Centre.
A Harmonious Partnership with Welsh National Opera
Our collaboration with the Welsh National Opera (WNO) has been a source of immense pride and joy. Through this partnership, we've had the privilege of hosting world-class artists and opera enthusiasts, providing them with comfortable accommodations just a stone's throw from their performances at the iconic Wales Millennium Centre.
To make these cultural experiences even more accessible, we offer an exclusive 20% discount on bed and breakfast rates for those attending WNO performances.
The WNO Team said, "We greatly appreciate our partnership with Future Inns, who have generously supported Welsh National Opera over a number of years, to provide high quality accommodation and pre-theatre dining packages to our audiences and performers at discounted rates. This has undoubtedly enhanced audiences’ experience of attending our operas in Cardiff Bay. We wish Future Inns Cardiff a very happy 20th birthday."
Hitting the Right Notes with Brecon Jazz
August 2008 saw Future Inns become proud sponsors of the legendary Brecon Jazz Festival. We even welcomed the English jazz bassist and composer Alec Dankworth as a special guest – an honour for any music lover. Supporting the arts has always been at our core, and Brecon Jazz was just the beginning.
Apprenticeships with Ambition
In 2010, we took Future Inns' commitment to hospitality talent to the next level with the Hotel Apprentice competition. Budding hoteliers competed for life-changing prizes, including a month-long management apprenticeship, one-on-one mentoring sessions, a shiny new laptop, and a tidy £500 cash. It wasn't just a competition – it was a launchpad for future industry stars.
Going for Gold: Supporting Olympic Dreams
In 2012, the world's spotlight turned to London for the Olympic Games – and Cardiff played a key part in the build-up. Several Olympic teams stayed with us during their training camps, choosing the comfort and convenience of Future Inns as their home away from home. Supporting elite athletes on their road to glory? Just another day in the life of our Cardiff Bay hotel!
Supporting Sport on Home Turf
Future Inns has always backed sporting excellence. We're proud sponsors of Luke Cooper, the rising star in the racing world. Luke is a talented British racing driver from Somerset with a strong background in Formula Ford. Known for his skill, determination, and impressive track record, he's competed at iconic circuits across the UK and beyond. With years of racing experience and numerous podium finishes, Luke continues to make his mark in motorsport, proudly supported by partners like Future Inns.
Making a Splash at the Cardiff Triathlon
We've cheered on countless competitors at the Cardiff Triathlon, which winds its way around our very own doorstep in Cardiff Bay. From early morning prep to post-race celebrations, our doors (and breakfast buffet) have been open to athletes and supporters alike – offering the perfect place to fuel up, cool down, and soak in the electric atmosphere.
Did you know that Future Inns is a cycle-friendly hotel? Triathlon competitors get 20% off bed and breakfast rates at the hotel? Bikes stay free!
Collaborating with Cardiff's Waterfront Partners
At Future Inns, we're proud to be part of the vibrant Cardiff Bay community, and our collaboration with the Waterfront Partners reflects our commitment to this dynamic area. The Waterfront Partners are a non-profit organisation comprising local government, charities, developers, and private businesses dedicated to enhancing Cardiff Bay's appeal.
By working together, we contribute to events and marketing initiatives that showcase the Bay's unique attractions. This partnership enriches Cardiff Bay's cultural and economic landscape. It ensures that residents and visitors can enjoy a thriving waterfront destination.
Partnering with Visit Cardiff
We're proud to work closely with Visit Cardiff, the official tourism body for the Welsh capital. Their mission is to showcase everything Cardiff has to offer – from world-class attractions and events to the hidden gems that make the city so unique. It's a passion we share, which is why our partnership works so well. By collaborating with Visit Cardiff, we're able to help shine a spotlight on the very best of the city – not just our hotel, restaurant and event facilities - but the surrounding culture, history, food scene, and entertainment.
Visit Cardiff is also celebrating 25 years since the completion of the Cardiff Bay development and the creation of the Cardiff Harbour Authority. As part of this commemoration, there are 25 prizes to be won, worth over £1500!
