What Is Hyrox?

HYROX is a unique global fitness race combining functional strength training and endurance running. It’s designed to be accessible for both elite athletes and everyday fitness enthusiasts, making it one of the most inclusive and exciting events in the fitness world.

The format is simple but challenging: participants complete 8 x 1km runs, each followed by a functional workout station. These stations include exercises like sledge pushes, rowing, sandbag lunges, and wall balls. It’s all about testing your strength, speed, and stamina in a race against the clock.

HYROX events are held indoors, so there’s no need to worry about the weather. Whether you’re taking part solo, as a doubles team, or in a relay, the event is designed to push you to your limits - and have fun doing it.

The event takes place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff from Friday 30 May to Sunday 1 June 2025. The venue offers state-of-the-art facilities, easy transport links, and plenty of space for both competitors and spectators.

It is incredibly easy to get to The Principality Stadium from Future Inns:

• It is a 6-minute taxi ride from Future Inn Cardiff to the city centre.
• Cardiff Bay train station is a 5-minute walk from the hotel and takes you to Cardiff Queen Street station, followed by a 15-minute walk to the Principality Stadium on Westgate Street.
• Alternatively, you could change lines for Cardiff Central, followed by a 5-minute walk.
• Several buses go into the city centre from County Hall, across the road from the hotel, or from the Wales Millennium Centre. 
• The Aquabus (water taxi) runs hourly from Cardiff Bay between 1030 and 1630 and stops in Bute Park, across the road from the stadium. Weather permitting. The journey takes about 25 minutes.
• It would take approximately 30 minutes to walk.
