When the 31 October descends, the vampires, zombies and witches of the city come out to play. But just where do they go? Halloween this year falls on a Tuesday, so expect lots of events taking part over the weekend prior. From haunted walks and eerie spirits to pumpkin carving, Plymouth has something to thrill everyone this All Hallows' Eve.
Psst, we take no responsibility for the nightmares or sleepless nights you may experience. Here’s what is happening in Plymouth this Halloween.
Halloween Cruise with Plymouth Boat Trips
The boat will pick you up from The Barbican. Onboard, there will be spooky activities and a Halloween-themed disco for children. Plus, a fancy-dress competition with prizes for the best costumes.
Come and enjoy our Halloween-themed children’s disco. With on-board musical games from a kids DJ, whilst your little Witches, Frankenstein and teeny Scary Monsters bop away to their favourite tunes. Fancy dress is welcome, and there will be a prize for the best Halloween costume.
It takes place on Saturday 2 November 2024 at 5pm. The event is suitable for all ages, and tickets are £13.50 per adult, £8.50 per child (age 3-15) and under 3s are free. A family ticket for 2 adults and 3 children is £38.
There's also a grown-ups-only party. The All Hallows's Eve Party Cruise and Moster Mash starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £22 per person.
Pick Your Own Pumpkin
You can pick your own pumpkins at Kitley Farm in Yealmpton, Plymouth. They have promised us some of the biggest pumpkins they have ever grown - they even have white ones and warty ones alongside the traditional pumpkins. Pumpkins start from £3. There are even wheelbarrows you can use for the enormous ones.
Pumpkin Fest at Strawberry Fields in Lifton
The vast pumpkin patch has thousands of homegrown pumpkins for you to choose from - with different colours, sizes and shapes. There are even scarecrows, a fun trail to follow and plenty of places to stop and take a photo. The annual event usually has pumpkin carving, tractor rides, face painting and magic shows.
Pumpkin Fest takes place until 31 October 2024. The event is ticketed and costs £3.95 per person, including children. Under 1's are free. Pumpkins are individually priced and range from £1.50 to £10. There are wheelbarrows you can use to collect them from the field. There's also a Mystery-Themed Maize Maze to discover, magic shows, a barrel train, and more.
Halloween Maze of Horrors at the Cornish Maize Maze
You will definitely leave this one with your heart racing. The Halloween horror maze will see you travel along a set path through the maze, and you will be greeted at scare scenes with live actors. It takes about 15 minutes to complete. It is not for the faint-hearted. Alongside this, there will be fire performers and other spectacles and a BBQ.
The event takes place on Saturday 26 October 2024, and tickets are timed between 7pm-9pm. It is £16.50 per person.
Spooky Science at The Box
Get your tricks and treats at The Box this Halloween. You can explore the galleries by torchlight, perform a science experiment in the Learning Room, and dance the night away to some spooky tracks. Of course, fancy dress is encouraged.
31 October 2024 between 5.30pm and 8pm. Tickets are £8 for adults and children aged 5-17. Children under 5 are £7.
More informationBoo at the Zoo
This Halloween, Dartmoor Zoo is opening its gates after dark for a night at the zoo. On 25 and 26 October 2024, the gates open at 5.30pm. Listen out for rustling amongst the trees and peeping eyes as you make your way around the Zoo, meeting characters of the strange, unsavoury and nightmarish kind on your travels. The event is for families, but some areas may not be suitable for younger children, but these will be pointed out on the map.
